About Your Instructor :

Gary has a wealth of experience and a wide knowledge base and training background, having studied and practised Martial Arts for 40 years. He is an acknowledged expert in the fields of Personal Safety Awareness, Protective Behaviour, Personal Defensive Tactics, Edged Weapon Awareness and Subject Control.

Gary has also taught the elite Police Tactical Firearms Group in the subjects of Unarmed-Close Quarter Combat and Subject Control. He has devised and implemented training programs for the Derbyshire Royal Infirmary and Derby City General Hospital Security Staff.

 

Safer Cities, CRIMEWATCH UK and SKY TV have featured his work. He has also been commended by the Chief Constable of Derbyshire Constabulary for his work in the field of Personal Safety Awareness / Personal Protection for Women. He is a member of Institute of Conflict Management .

He has provided training for many of the East Midlands main employers including: Rolls Royce, Midland Mainline, The Probation Service, Derby City Council and DSS Fraud Department to name but a few.

His Martial Arts credentials are as follows:

8th Dan Black Belt - Kempo Goshin Jutsu.

8th Degree / Dan in Kempo as awarded by Rykyu Karate Gung-fu Association.

These grades have also been ratified by Hanshi Mick Benfell 10th Dan (Ryukyu Gung Fu & Karate Association) and Dave Turton 8th Dan head of the Self Defence Federation.

He also holds a 3rd Dan Black Belt in Bu-Jutsu, 1 st Dan Black Belt in Tai Kyoku Ken Kung Fu, Instructors Credentials for Jun Fan Martial Arts – Larry Hartsell He is also a qualified Trainer (City and Guilds) and Adult Education Tutor.

Gary has been featured in many Martial Arts publications including Combat, Fighters and Fighting Arts International. In fact Bey Logan, the then editor of Combat Magazine – dubbed him ‘one of the UK ’s most effective martial artists’
