Inspired by this Zen painting by the Master Sengai (1750 – 1898) Circle, Triangle and Square. Ink on Paper from the Collection of the Idemitsu Museum of Arts, Tokyo. The JuKaDo Symbol was subsequently conceived and designed by Gary Stringer.

This picture is a representation of Infinity as seen through perceptive eyes of a Zen master. The Stringer JuKaDo Logo design was heavily influenced by this line of thought. The interwoven symbols of the JuKaDo symbol are also Square, Circle and Triangle.

In this case, the Circle represents the circle of knowledge, which has no beginning or end. But rather flows continuously. The Triangle represents the three stages training within a Martial art, Basics, Form and Combat Technique. It also refers to the Filipino martial arts and their footwork patterns and movement some of which is to be found within our system.

The Square is a representation of the Fighting Arena, the Mat on which we practice and the Dojo or Training Hall. It also represents the influence of other fighting disciplines such as Boxing and Kick Boxing upon the system. The square (Mat) is also in homage to the traditional Martial Arts such as Karate Jitsu, Aiki Jutsu, Tai Kyoku Ken and Gung Fu – which are the core of our system.

The way they are combined and interlinked is meant to represent the blend of Knowledge, Tradition and Innovation that has resulted in the System as it is today. Each part is reliant upon and a part of the other – the combination gives infinite possibilities for technique and personal development.
